Cayuga Paddle

Our Cayuga Paddle is designed for those who want to learn about the Iroquoian Nations that lived in this valley… but it is more then that.

The trip starts off drifting into a panoramic view of the Grand River valley.  Shoot over the splash of the “Bloop” which makes everyone say “can we do it again!”  Then there is the opportunity to visit the abandoned gypsum mine from the 1830’s. Along the way there are fresh springs to drink cool water. And of course the opportunity to swim in the river pools.

There are hikes to lookouts where you can learn about medicinal & edible plants used by the natives… there are talks on the Iroquoian wars, lifestyle and trade. Learn about the burial grounds and lost villages in the valley… discover the amazing race of Lost Iroquoians.

Experience lunch in the shaded view of the valley... splash in the coldness of Whiteman’s Creek… pass a Blue Heron rookery… watch hawks, vultures and the odd eagle soar the skies.
