Learn to kayak... it is easier then learning to canoe. Recommended over canoeing for first time paddlers.

Enjoy a practical hands-on kayak lesson for leisure recreational paddling. This learn to kayak lesson is on the beautiful Grand River Valley of Southern Ontario... one hour from Toronto, Waterloo or London. This Southern Ontario river averages about 1 meter in depth with long flat sections... a safe place to learn.

Two kayak lesson options are available... a three hour kayak lesson or a one hour kayak lesson. Both kayak lessons are geared for the beginner with no previous paddling experience. The central location of the kayak lessons in Southern Ontario is ideal as a nearby day trip.

Beginner Kayak Lesson Option #1   

With this 2.5 to 3 hour lesson... the instructor stays with you for the entire paddling experience.

The kayak lesson starts out on land-base instruction. It covers euipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the kayak without tipping, kayak safety and what to look for in purchasing a kayak. On the river we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable... the group launches with the instructor for a two hour one way trip down the river. Trip length can be customized with age. Email Inquiry

For the kayak lesson & trip the following equipment is supplied... kayak, paddle, life jacket, safety kit, dry bag, drinking water and return shuttle. 

For price savings you can also let us know if you wish to join a kayak class with six or more for the $70 rate.

For our kayak lessons we use the Canadian made  Aqua Fusion Kayak called the Liberty,by Nova Craft

Beginner Kayak Lesson Option #2   

Starts with a one hour lesson and then you paddle on your own without an instructor... on an easy section of the river for 2-3 hours... following a map.

The kayak lesson starts with a land-base instruction. It covers euipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the kayak without tipping, kayak safety and what to look for in purchasing a kayak. On the water  we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable the group is given a map to follow to the exit point on the river... and then they launch for a 2-3 hour paddle. This is a one-way paddle where we shuttle you back to your vehicle at the end of the trip.  Email Inquiry
