The Itinerary of the Wildlife & Wilderness Floating Classroom...

Taste fresh spring water... students delight in dumping the contents of their water bottles and filling up with the real thing.

At the springs, students experience the coldness and the uniqueness of taste. Underground well water flowing out at the surface.

Paddle 1 km of easy fun splash along the way...  with the "Floating Classroom" there is no fear of tipping... which students often experience when canoeing or kayaking.

The students are not at risk because the guide has steering control of the raft... allowing everyone to safely enjoy a paddling experience on the river.

Visit the 300 Year Sycamore... the Carolinian sycamore trees are known for going hollow. This amazing tree located in a river levee takes 4 people to get their arms around.

It is hollow inside and one can climb 20ft up to come out the top. This shot shows "three" down inside the tree

Wildlife & fish return to the valley... in the 1960 people were told not to paddle, swim or fish in the Grand River.

In the year 2000 the Grand River was recognized in Australia for it's amazing recovery through Conservation Authority management. Back are eagles, osprey and trout... plus 82 different kinds of other fish.

Team building competitions of laughter and immagination... that require the rafting teams to work together to win.

Competitions from "cook dat egg" ... to the "Office Fishing Kit"... the Joe Bushman Quiz with questions like " what animal can slow its heartbeat to one beat every 5 minutes?

Learning adventures that no one will forget...

Swim & body surf on a river swift... like a gigantic waterslide float down the river enjoying an amazing wilderness experience.

Few have actually played in a river. Gain respect for the power of moving water even in a gentle current. The challenge of body surfing... is getting the students to move on!

Edible & medicinal plants... the idea that there is food in the woods that tastes good... creates a buzz.

Students are shown easy ways to remember trees, know poison ivy and  recognize stinging nettle.

In this picture the juice from a burdock is being used to take the itch out of a misquito bite.

Wilderness hikes to the lookout... and a visit to a rare virgin stand.

Climb heart-attack hill into the sky to see a view of the valley. Then on the way down see the stark difference of the climax forest of the Carolinian... a hemlock stand... find out why pioneers destroyed these stands.

Learn why this place is puff ball paradise.
