Enjoy a practical hands-on Ontario canoeing lesson for leisure recreational paddling. Learn how to canoe in the beautiful Grand River Valley of Southern Ontario... one hour from Toronto, Waterloo or London. This Southern Ontario river averages about 1 meter in depth with long flat sections for beginners to canoe... great for safely learning.

 Two canoe lesson options are available... a three hour canoe lesson or a one hour canoe lesson. Both canoe lessons are geared for the beginner with no previous paddling experience. The central location of the canoe lessons in Southern Ontario is ideal as a nearby day trip.

Beginner Canoeing Lesson Option #1   

With this 2.5 to 3 hour lesson... the instructor stays with you for the entire paddling experience.

The canoe lesson starts out on land-base instruction. It covers euipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the canoe without tipping, canoe safety and what to look for in purchasing a canoe. On the river we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable... the group launches with the instructor for a two hour trip down the Grand River. Then is shuttled back to their vehicles. Email Inquiry

 For the canoeing lesson the following equipment is supplied... canoe, paddle, life jacket, safety kit, dry bag and drinking water. 

For price savings you can also let us know if you wish to join a canoe class with six or more for the $60.00.

For our canoe lessons we use the Canadian made 16ft Prospector Canoe by Nova Craft, London, Ont

Beginner Canoeing Lesson Option #2   

Starts with a one hour lesson and then you paddle on your own without an instructor... on an easy section of the river for 2-3 hours... following a map.

The canoeing lesson starts with a land-base instruction. It covers euipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the canoe without tipping, canoe safety and what to look for in purchasing a canoe. On the water  we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable the group is given a map to follow to the exit point on the river... and then they launch for a 2-3 hour paddle. This is a one-way paddle where we shuttle you back to your vehicle at the end of the trip.  Email Inquiry
