Do a canoeing lesson & canoe trip together as you paddle the Grand River... 1 hour west of Toronto, London, Waterloo and Niagara, Ontario.

This is a practical hands-on canoeing lesson for leisure recreational paddling. If seeking certification take our ORCKA Course.

After the 1 hour  lesson you can do a trip with the instructor...  or take a map and enjoy the day on your own.

The canoe route is just excellent for beginners... avergaes 1 meter in depth with a gentle moving current to help paddle down the river.

The canoe lesson route has an early take out with picnic area and washrooms for those wanting a break.

Beginner Canoeing Lesson Option #1   

Starts with a one hour lesson, followed by a 2.5 hour trip where... the instructor stays with you for the entire paddling experience.

The canoe lesson starts out on land-base instruction. It covers equipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the canoe without tipping, canoe safety and what to look for in purchasing a canoe.

On the river, we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable... the group launches with the instructor for a two hour trip down the Grand River. Then is shuttled back to their vehicles.

 For the canoeing lesson the following equipment is supplied... canoe, paddle, life jacket, safety kit, dry bag, drinking water and return upstream shuttle. 

For price savings you can also let us know if you wish to join a canoe class with others.

For our canoe lessons we use the Canadian made 16ft Prospector Canoe by Nova Craft, London, Ont


Beginner Canoeing Lesson Option #2   

Starts with a one hour lesson and then you paddle on your own without an instructor... on an easy section of the river for 2-3 hours... following a map.

The canoeing lesson starts with a land-base instruction. It covers equipment needed, how to paddle, getting in & out of the canoe without tipping, canoe safety and what to look for in purchasing a canoe.

On the water, we practice the entry technique, ease of balance, steering and paddle strokes. Once everyone is comfortable the group is given a map to follow to the exit point on the river... and then they launch for a 2-3 hour paddle. This is a one-way paddle where we shuttle you back to your vehicle at the end of the trip.

How Your Canoe Lesson Trip Works:

You must make a reservation before arriving!

Once you reserve, we send driving instructions & what to bring. We meet you at the start point in Bean Park, Paris with the canoe, paddles, life jackets &  phone dry bags.

Our instructors does a 1 hour teaching lesson on land & water... giving you the skills to paddle a canoe.

Once the instructor sees the desired competence, and you are comfortable... you do a 2-3 hr trip down the Grand River.

Near the end, you call us and we pickup the equipment... and provide return shuttles to your vehicle. You must bring a cell phone to call us.
