Teacher's Aid Program

We We specialize in doing field trips customized to your educational curriculum.

We offer a guided outdoor teaching experience to assist you in designing curriculum-based field trips.  Our background in outdoor planning will make your field trips easy to organize and help insure a successful learning experience with the students.

Free of charge, we will design customized field trips meeting your curriculum and budget.

We will also include with the curriculum outlay a risk management plan, a complete price quote and a written itinerary.

We will deliver the customized program within one week of your request.

We are reimbursed in this venture by receiving your school’s field trip business.
If your school chooses not to do the field trip, there is no charge and you are always welcome to contact us again for a quote on another program idea.

Our Company

We carry 3 million in Liability Insurance, above the 2 million required standards of the Conservation Parks. A copy of our insurance can be faxed.

Certified Lifeguards, CPR and First Aiders are available.

Lead guides are ORCKA certified.

Student/parents are required to sign a waiver.

The Grand River

And the river averages 1 meter in depth with 2 meter deep swimming sections.

The Grand River itself is Class 1 for waves.

We are able to monitor river flow rates and storms and will cancel if we or you feel the situation is at risk.

 

Our Background Experience:

  • Teacher of flora, forestry, wildlife, fishing, edible plants, tripping/camping skills, aboriginal/settlement history and local points of interest within the Grand River Watershed.
  • Paddled & guided through most of Algonquin & Quetico Park
  • Certified ORCA canoe & kayak instructor
  • Professional Forester, Lake head University, Thunder Bay
  • Geneticist & woodlot consultant for the MNR in Ottawa
  • Cash crop no-till farmer and conservationist
  • Chaired & directed Ryerson summer camps for 6 years

 

Available resources

  • Equipment:   16 foot poly canoes, 8 man rafts, kayaks, bikes and camping equipment.
  • Instructional & field trip opportunities: Instructional paddling lessons, Algonquin canoe tripping & preparation, ORCA flatwater canoe & kayak certification, guided exploratory hikes, edible plants & flora identification, exploring historical sites and points of interest, fishing, Iroquois speakers & dancers, also camping/ lodging for one or multi day paddling trips.
