Have the day off and come GROWE with us… outdoors!

Release your wild child to explore nature with us in a fun and educational way. Our PD Days and March Break camps are forest-school inspired by having children engaged in outdoor self-directed play and educational activities all day long!

  • Children will be exploring, making new friends and learning about nature in an interactive way by doing nature inspired crafts, games of exploration, and a reflection circle time around the fire.
  • We will concentrate on leadership and team building skills that will foster confidence.
  • Children have so much to learn from nature so let us help your little one reconnect with everything nature has to offer.
  • Connecting with friends in nature is how memories are made!
  • Your little ones will be guided on their adventures by highly qualified, passionate leaders who are trained in Wilderness First Aid.

Your little ones will learn all there is to know about surviving in the wilderness during winter. Let’s explore everything that winter has to offer by constructing shelters, drinking maple sap fresh from the maple tree, building fires, tracking animals and each other while playing snowshoe hide and seek.

SPRING INTO THE FOREST      April 13, 2018

Let’s adventure into the forest for all the fun we can find. We will be geocaching, hiking, tree-climbing and creating nature-inspired crafts. The forest is exploding with life in the spring and we will go on a treasure hunt to find what is springing to life.

THE GRAND ADVENTURE    June 8, 2018

With the arrival of the warm weather let’s investigate the creek and all of its critters. Children will have a splashing-fun time with us while dip netting to discover all of the fascinating critters that call the creek their home. We will get creative with nature inspired arts, crafts and wilderness games. Come get wild with us as we connect to all things outdoors.

Pollinator Gardening Day    June 29, 2018

Come play in the dirt with us while we learn all about gardening and the wonderful world of a pollinator's life .The GROWE Kids will be helping local pollinators while having fun planting a pollinator garden! We will go exploring a variety of habitats looking for crucial pollinators such as: bumblebees, honeybees, hummingbirds and butterflies. Be a part of a citizen science bio blitz searching for Monarch butterflies, caterpillars and chrysalis. Plus nature inspired crafts and games that will have your little one engaged in nature all day long!

MARCH BREAK       March, 2018

March Break with GROWE will have your kids reconnecting with nature in a fun and educational way, and making new friends along the way! Each day will have a different nature theme with games, crafts, free exploration, educational talks, and circle time around the fire. Kids will learn the art of cooking more than marshmallows on the fire. Connecting with friends in nature is how memories are made!

Our guides are highly trained, skilled and experienced in leading clients in the outdoors with the completion of many pertinent diplomas, certificates, training, and awards.

  • We must stay together as a group as much as possible but if you are to ever go off anywhere by yourself we will have a buddy system that children will always follow.

  • No child is to go anywhere by themselves. Always leave space between you and the person in front of you when hiking in the bush.

  • Be aware of ticks and protect yourself by tucking your socks into your pants, checking your pant legs on a regular bases, and stay on the trails.

  • Poison Ivy is a three leaved plant that can cause severe reactions in some people. Stay clear of any three leaved plants by staying on the trails. Never pick any fauna without the guide’s instructions.

  • Allergies, asthma and all other medical conditions will be discussed and medications organized.

  • Always stay hydrated by drinking lots of water no matter what the weather conditions.

  • Always be aware of tripping hazards such as rock, sticks, logs, and slippery conditions on and off the trails.

RECOMMENDED CLOTHING:

Always dress for the weather conditions.

Dressing in layers is always a good idea since you can always take layers off along the way.

Winter can be cold and damp so we recommend wearing:

Undershirt, sweater, wool socks, snow pants, long underwear, scarf, buff, balaclava, toque, mitten/gloves, winter boots, and down filled winter coat/parka, waterproof outer shell.
